Originally named Manikarnika and nicknamed Manu, she was born on 19 November 1827 at Kashi (Varanasi) .

Lakshmibai from 1857 - 1858 - Battles the British in India

Lakshmibai, the rani (queen) of Jhānsi in central India, is drawn into the Sepoy Rebellion, a popular uprising against British rule in India. Skilled in the martial arts, Lakshmibai helps to lead the resistance.

She died in battle in 1858 and is memorialized as a great Indian heroine.
